Gayle WilsonDirector of Community Support Services (Kenai)Gayle joined Hope’s Kenai team in 2022, bringing with her a passion for supporting people with disabilities. Her experience in this field began with her involvement in a ski program in Colorado tailored for people with disabilities. She has also cared for a close family member who experiences disabilities. After moving to Alaska, Gayle became aware of Hope’s work and applied when she saw the opportunity to join as an Office Manager. The inclusive and supportive culture at Hope resonated with her personal values, and she quickly immersed herself in the organization. Her dedication and leadership led to her advancement into her current role as the Director of Community Support Services for Hope’s Kenai region. She takes pride in her versatile role, which involves everything from managing daily operations and ensuring that support recipients receive the services they need to engaging with the community and advocating for people’s rights. One of her proudest achievements at Hope was revitalizing the Kenai Community Center post-COVID, creating a safe and welcoming space for people to reconnect and once again celebrate together. Her person-centered approach and drive to build meaningful relationships aligns with Hope’s values, and she works hard to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live their best possible life. Prior to Hope, Gayle’s professional background is primarily in Human Resources. She holds an associate degree in human resources from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and has worked in a various sectors including staffing companies, construction, oil and gas, and serving as an HR Manager for Fred Meyer for several years. Outside of work, Gayle enjoys a lot of outdoor activities—riding four-wheelers, fishing, gardening, walking on the beach, and more—as well as spending time with her four grandchildren and her dog, Hawkeye. |
