Tom HiratsukaChief Financial OfficerTom’s journey to his position as Hope’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) was driven by a strong desire for work-life balance and a deep-rooted commitment to making a difference in his community. With a solid background in accounting and financial planning, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role at Hope. It was Hope’s mission-driven approach that first drew him to the organization in 2011. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance and wanting the opportunity to spend more quality time with his wife and two children, he interviewed for a role on Hope’s accounting team and immediately sensed that Hope shared his vision. Tom's passion for his work lies in the impact Hope has in communities throughout Alaska. He believes in the importance of inclusivity and ensuring that individuals who experience disabilities are not confined to institutions. His commitment to Hope's values is also evident in his focus on joy. He believes in finding moments of happiness amidst the challenges of daily life, and he prioritizes wellness walks, personal reading time, and connecting with friends and loved ones as sources of joy. As CFO, he keeps a steady pulse on Hope’s financial performance and works to ensure that Hope remains financially sustainable. During his time at Hope, he has achieved notable accomplishments, including successfully leading an $8.5 million property refinance which resulted in substantial savings, and securing the multi-million dollar Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, making Hope one of the largest beneficiaries of the grant. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Tom earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University, after which he returned to Alaska in 1999 where he has lived, worked and raised his family ever since. |
