Heather SollenbergerDirector of Intensive SupportsHeather’s time with Hope began in 2015 after an acquaintance shared their positive experience with Hope’s training program. Heather was immediately drawn to Hope’s emphasis on training and applied for a part-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) position. However, her experience led her to be offered the position of a Community Support Supervisor instead. She has held various roles since then, including Licensing Specialist, Mental Health Supervisor and Case Manager, and in 2020 she transitioned to her current role as the Director of Intensive Supports. She oversees the operations of several assisted living homes specializing in services for individuals with co-occurring behavioral or mental health needs, as well as cognitive or intellectual disabilities. Heather believes in Hope’s work and mission and is driven by her personal experience and the interactions she had with children with disabilities starting from a young age. This early exposure shaped her belief that everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, deserves the opportunity to thrive and achieve greatness. She values the family atmosphere at Hope and their commitment to honoring the dignity and worth of all human life. Throughout her time at Hope, she has achieved several noteworthy accomplishments, one of which was founding a poetry club, ‘Poetry Corner,’ for the elders in one of the assisted living homes she oversees. This club proved to be a source of joy for the residents, particularly those with Alzheimer's. Prior to joining Hope, Heather worked at her family's advertising business while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in human services with a minor in women's studies. Her long-term plan was always to work for a non-profit organization, and human services and social work have always been fields close to her heart. In addition to her work, Heather cherishes her role as a proud aunt to three nephews and the close-knit relationships she has with her family. She enjoys gardening and reading, indulges in sketch comedy and stand-up comedy, has a passion for resin work, and likes spending time with her cats. |
