Art Night: Screen Printing

Discover the art of screen printing in this hands-on "Art Night with Avery" class.

Screen printing is a hands-on process that uses light-sensitive emulsion to transfer a design onto a mesh screen. Participants will learn how to apply the emulsion, burn their design into the screen, print the design onto a t-shirt, and heat-press the final image. Participants can submit one-color personal designs ahead of time for approval, or choose from available Hope Studio designs.

In this class, participants will learn each step of the process—from applying light-sensitive emulsion and burning a design into the screen to printing the image onto a shirt and heat-pressing the final image for lasting quality.

Participants have the option of bringing a one-color design of their own (must be pre-approved), or choose from a selection of ready-made Hope Studios designs. This class involves working in low light due to the light-sensitive photo emulsion process, so participants should feel comfortable in dim lighting.

At the end of the class, you will leave with your custom, hand-printed t-shirt and the custom screen you created—ready to use again!
