General FAQs 

How do I turn in collected checks and cash? Top
Bring your collected checks and cash with you to the event and the check-in volunteers will accept it. Collections can also be turned in at a local Hope office or mailed to:
Walk for Hope, 540 W. International Airport Rd, Anchorage, AK 99518


If I raise more than $75 can I get two free shirts? Top
One shirt is awarded per individual registration allows us to track inventory.  If you have chosen the family registration, the total amount raised will be divided among the number registered to determine the number of prizes redeemed. Additional shirts can be purchased for $15 at the event.


Can I participate in the Anchorage or Mat-Su Walk if I register for a virtual event elsewhere? Top
Yes. Simply let the check-in volunteers at the event know that you are registered under another region. The money you raise will stay in the region for which you registered.


I raised $75, when I will get my free t-shirt? Top
When you check-in, the volunteer will give you a coupon to redeem at the t-shirt tent. If you are participating virtually, after May 10, you will be notified to pick up your shirt at your local Hope office if available otherwise one will be mailed to you.

Anchorage Specific FAQs 

Where exactly on the Park Strip is the Walk? Top
The event begins at 10th & N Street, west (toward the water) from L Street.


What if I didn’t register online yet? Can I still attend? Top
Yes. You can check in there and remember that the registration amount is a suggestion, but you will not be turned away.


Will there be a shuttle bus? Top
No. Because of the short route, there will not be a shuttle. If someone supported by Hope is unable to complete the walk, a volunteer at one of the checkpoints can call for another employee to pick up.


Do I have to pay additional if I bring my children with me that didn’t register online? Top
No.  A suggested pledge amount is requested but not required. If registering online be sure to select the family registration and select the number of participating members in your family.


Can I bike the shorter route? Top
Yes. The only restriction is that walkers must use the 5K route. Bikers, runners and rollerbladers can choose between the 5K and 16K routes.


Is there a route without as many hills? Top
Yes. Participants who would like to avoid the inclines along the Coastal Trail are encouraged to take the Walk Lite Route along the sidewalk surrounding the Park Strip.


If I registered online, do I still have to check-in at the walk? Top
Yes. There will be a sign directly those who have registered online for a faster checkin.


Do I need to bring a print out of my pledges collected online to check in? Top
The check-in volunteers will have a list of all online registered participants with their amounts raised online as well as pending pledges. If you did not use the online service to track your pledges, you will need a hard copy registration form with your donations.


How late can I check-in? Top
Check-in will close at 9:30. (We may extend to 10:00 if a steady amount of people)


Can I bring my dog along? Top
Yes, however we do ask that your dog is a good canine citizen and you clean up after your pet.


What if I don’t raise $25? Top
While the Walk & Roll for Hope is open to all people regardless of the amount raised, its primary purpose is a fundraiser. The $25 raised by each participant helps offset the expenses of the event, so that all additional money raised can be used to directly support Alaskans who experience disabilities.
