Hello, and welcome to Hope Community Resources, Inc.'s (Hope's) Supported Employment Network. Our team assists individuals with the employment option of their choice. Our values and philosophy assist the individual in finding community jobs that are consistent with their desires. This assistance comes directly from the team members who provide support as described below.

Wayne enjoys his job shredding confidential documents in the records room.

The Job Development Process - Each individual who enters the Supported Employment Network participates in an assessment of their employment interests, desires and goals. Following this assessment, a resume is developed to assist in highlighting prior experience and skills. Potential employers and job types are then identified and toured. The application and interview process begins and continues until a well-matched position is procured. We participate in the interview process if this service will increase the comfort level of the individual.

Orientation and Training - If an employing company requires an orientation, our staff participates with the individual. We also provides on-going training efforts to assure the individual has every opportunity to succeed within their position. We have found this to be a crucial aspect to our supports. We not only support individuals in acquiring and maintaining job specific skills, but also facilitate communication within the work place. Self-advocacy skills are promoted throughout this process.

Erin finishes her orientation at the Carrs/Safeway store.

Follow-along Supports -
As an individual becomes more comfortable within their position, we may reduce direct support as the individual's skills increase. This process may occur in increments of minutes, hours or days as best suits each employee's needs. In fact, our team will continue to provide periodic observations with those we support who have the highest level of independence. Direct observation facilitates opportunities to address questions or difficulties that are best remedied through face-to-face meetings.
