The
first step in receiving services from Hope Community Resource,
Inc. (Hope) is to contact our New Services Coordinator. Following
this initial contact, we will assist you in completing all paperwork
required to initiate the process of obtaining an eligibility determination
to receive state/federal-funded services. More people request
services than funding can support. Therefore, the State of Alaska
maintains a waiting list of people seeking services. A wait list
assessment is completed once funding eligibility has been determined.
Once those two initial processes are completed, individuals must
wait to be drawn for services from the wait list. This occurs
when funds become available. (As the draw process is complicated,
we ask that you call for a verbal explanation if you are interested
in the details.)
There
are two types of wait list draws. The first is a full service
draw whereby services are designed to meet most, if not all, the
needs of an individual. The second is a "Core Services"
draw. Core Services are designed to
provide a minimal level of service until an individual is drawn
for full services, thus providing some support in the interim.
Individuals
may also elect to purchase services from Hope utilizing their
own funds, settlements through court, insurance proceedings and
so forth. Since there are no government requirements on self-funded
services, this process is much easier to navigate.
Regardless
of how services are funded, Hope's well-trained and knowledgeable
staff can assist you in navigating the various processes. We will
walk you through step by step, help interpret specific requirements,
as well as offer guidance as to what documentation is needed.
This process can seem overwhelming, but we are here to help you
through it. In many cases, we can also provide information and
referrals to other services that may be available within your
community.
