Are
you interested in spending a summer working in Alaska?
The
student summer employment program at Hope Community Resources,
Inc. (Hope) is designed to give students an opportunity to
work directly with persons experiencing a developmental disability.
This experience has proven invaluable to students pursuing
occupations in a number of fields including anthropology, psychology,
human resources, social care and recreation. After living and working with
individuals who experience a developmental disability, people
find that their perspective on life is irrevocably altered.
This experience has given many students insight that has allowed
them, in their professional lives, to deliver services to
this population with a much greater degree of efficacy and
success.

How
do I learn more about Alaska?
Alaska
is a land of cultural diversity, centuries-old traditions, innovation,
progressive visions and excellent recreation. It is the land
of Denali, the midnight sun, and the northern lights. Henry
Gannett, one time President of the National Geographic Society
said,
"There
is one word of advice and caution to be given those intending
to visit Alaska for pleasure. If you are old, go by all means.
But if you are young, wait. The scenery of Alaska is much
grander than anything else of the kind in the world and it
is not well to dull one's capacity for enjoyment by seeing
the finest first."
