Services and Supports Offered at Hope

Reaching Out to Families

Hope strives to be responsive to families and individuals in their requests for new services and supports. To meet the ever growing desire of people to have more inclusive recreational opportunities, Hope has focused its efforts on expanding programs in this area throughout its regions.

A significant addition to the Anchorage region was the opening of The Discovery Center at Hope in Anchorage in November of 2010. This will be the hub of all recreational and educational programs in this region. Our goal is to provide inclusive activities and classes for all ages and abilities at times requested by families. There is already a new after school program for children and teen, in addition to activities on Saturdays.

The Discover Center also houses Hope Studios, a collaborative art studio, which opened in 2008; Actabilities an inclusive theatre troupe; and the Media Center for pursing educational and employment opportunities in the production of all media.

The Basics

Helping an individual in finding their essence and assisting them in the journey towards their dreams is really what Hope is all about.

Recognizing that each individual is unique and that his or her life dreams and needs for support vary is the foundation of service delivery at Hope.  We continually strive to develop unique services and supports to meet those needs and dreams throughout an individuals live span.

Today, in Alaska, people who experience disabilities are living in a multiplicity of settings.  As families request its services, Hope has moved into communities throughout Alaska, allowing families to remain intact and to receive services in the community of their choice.  Currently, over 50% of those supported at Hope are receiving services at home.

Dependent upon the person’s age, staff will work with the family, advocates or other appropriate people to help find housing, develop in-home assistance, secure employment or develop community activities that are meaningful and important to the person supported.  Living a full life is the ultimate goal.
