DIRECT
CARE — Since each person who chooses services from Hope Community
Resources, Inc. (Hope) is unique, so are their specific needs for
support. Many of the requests we receive from individuals are for
people to accompany them to events, to participate in story reading
and to assist with arts and crafts. These requests vary from day to
day.
If
you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact the Public Relations
Network for an application. Once applications are received, the volunteer
coordinator will share your interests with the direct care staff and
Hope will then try to match you up with individuals who are looking
for the same things you are. This is a wonderful way to learn about
Hope, our mission and the individuals we serve.
Please
note that anyone wishing to work directly with the individuals who
choose Hope’s supports must be 19 years or older. Since volunteers
must meet many of the same requirements as employees (ie: mandatory
criminal history check and fingerprinting) and costs are involved,
we ask that each volunteer make a commitment to the agency for a minimum
of six months.

SPECIAL
EVENTS — This is where the bulk of Hope’s volunteer needs fall.
With numerous fund raising events throughout the year, people power
is always a necessity. A complete list of the events that Hope holds
each year can be found at Special Events. |

HELPING
HANDS — Summer time is a busy season for Hope and the numerous single-family
homes that it maintains. Each year there is a list of small projects
that need to be done, which Hope's maintenance staff may not be able
to prioritize. The Helping Hands project brings community and staff
members together to try and accomplish some of these projects, which
include landscaping, painting and minor home repairs. This is a good
volunteer opportunity for service groups or companies that want to get
involved with Hope. |

MISCELLANEOUS
— Many times the agency is in need of helping hands to catch up on filing,
assist with bulk mail jobs and other miscellaneous clerical work. |

more information on any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact
the Public Relations and Resource Development Network at 1-907-561-5335. |
