| An Investment in Hope Community Resources for Alaskans who Experience Disabilities |
|
Funds raised
through various means help Hope Community Resources, Inc. (Hope) bridge
annual funding gaps. This fundraising allows the continuance of quality,
progressive residential and employment supports to over 700 individuals
who experience a disability and their families throughout Alaska.
To this
end, Hope has a number of ways for individuals and businesses to help
provide for future generations of Alaskans who experience a disability
and for the future of Hope.
Cash contributions are greatly appreciated and are Hope's preferred
gift. In addition to gifts of cash, Hope accepts in-kind contributions
that are outlined on the Other Giving
page of this site. Donors have the option of making unrestricted cash
contributions or they may restrict the gift to any one of the following
areas:
|
|
| Hope Endowment Fund: |
| Hope established
the Hope Endowment Fund in 1993 as a means of ensuring its continuance
of quality community services and to lessen its dependency on government
funding. The Hope Endowment Fund is a pool of assets held by Hope and
invested in order to provide long-term income from interest and dividends.
|
|
| Family Support Fund: |
| This fund specifically aids Hope in attempting
to reduce the staggering number of individuals and their families (currently
over 1100) who remain on the State of Alaska's waiting list for services.
Many of these families have gone into or are on the verge of going into
crisis situations, threatening displacement of their children from their
homes and communities. In most cases, less expensive (compared to out
of home residential choices) equipment and modifications to a family's
home are all that is required to arrest or prevent the crisis and keep
their children at home. Although some of these financial needs are met
with grants secured through the State of Alaska, Hope must make up the
non-funded portion with public and private fundraising.
|
|
| Gift of Hope Fund: |
| This fund provides "Whatever it Takes" to
keep children at home with their families and avoid out-of-home residential
settings. The fund also supports and aids adults in maintaining an independent
lifestyle within their community. The fund was created in memory of
Maryann Lesko who was a strong advocate of children and adults having
equal access to their communities without being displaced from their
families and loved ones because of their disabilities.
|
|
| Health & Wellness Fund: |
| The wellbeing of the individuals we serve is extremely important to us. This fund will help pay for emergency medical
and dental needs of adults who experience a disability and have no coverage through Medicaid or other insurance sources.
|
|
| Family Reunification Fund: |
| This fund assists in reuniting families that have been separated through assistance with travel expenses, hotels,
and escort needs when they do not have the funds to do so.
|
|
| Recreational Opportunities Fund: |
| This fund is used to assist with providing recreational opportunities for those individuals who
cannot participate because of lack of funding. It is also used to create new recreational opportunities
for individuals who experience a disability.
|
|
| Special Projects Fund: |
| This fund is specific to capital projects and equipment needs. Any donations to this fund will be used to enhance Hope's current fiscal year capital budget.
